About
David Kelman
David Kelman has a decade of professional accomplishment in multiple aspects of the computing industry. Mr. Kelman has served in design, implementation, project oversight, and consulting roles for a variety of enterprise-scale software engineering, computer systems, and ePublishing projects. Although he now focuses his time on education, he still consults part-time.
Before returning to independent consulting, he served for five years as software architect, engineer, and project manager for Potomac Fusion from its first contract through its growth to a $4 million/yr company (acquired by Sotera as a $40 million/yr company). At Potomac Fusion, he architected several successful data fusion and content processing systems, and he applied software engineering expertise to other defense projects.
He has performed consulting and contracting work for companies in several industries, including Ignite Learning [education software/ePublishing], Caleb Technologies (acquired by Navitaire) [airline operations], and Potomac Fusion [defense]. He has served in design, oversight, and implementation roles within the ePublishing industry for eLaw. and Harcourt Education. He has also performed as a technical expert for IT-oriented legal questions.
He earned a S.B. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a major in Computer Science and Engineering and a minor in History. In addition to courses in MIT's EECS and History departments, his academic work included a thesis with MIT's Software Design Group, technology law with Harvard Law School, and history studies at Harvard College.
He is the inventor for U.S. Patent 6,671,820 (System and method for the prevention of corruption of networked storage devices during backup data recovery). He has held a Top Secret/SSBI clearance. He is an Eagle Scout.
While he is always learning new technologies, no software engineer's description is complete with an alphabet/acronym soup
